The chair,
installation, video, 2022
was placed in Amsterdam’s Museumplein (Museum quarter), and secretly filmed by the artist himself. With no instructions, people were empowered to do whatever they wanted with the anomaly. Some walked by, some smiled and posed for the camera. The piece was eventually reduced to two different versions. The 28-minute edit follows events as they happen, with reality as slow as ever. The shorter version of 6 minutes depicts how ephemeral and impermanent, we and our life can be. The chair makes commentary on human behaviour, as much as it is a display of one artist’s desire to place himself between the greats, in the same art world he places his chair in.
